Perhaps the most synth-oriented album in the S. Red catalog, The Silent Surgery was made alongside the surrealist short film of the same name (though only one song here appears in the actual film). This recording is more an extension of the themes and ideas from the film than a traditional soundtrack recording. It is also the last recording where Townsend performed all the instruments (with the exception of the live percussion).
